Panasonic 42" HD Plasma (industrial) v. Samsung 40" LCD

Sep 8, 2005 4:18PM PDT

I have two questions on this one, which might help me make up my mind:

1) Is a 40" LCD sufficiently close to a HD plasma 42" such that they have relatively the same appearance as to size?

2) Do LCDs still have that motion drag so that if I watch sports there will be those ghost images trailing the action? Or have LCD makers figured out a way to control that?

3) Has anyone ordered from PCVideoOnline? Seems like they have some good prices - they are one of those NYC on-line outfits.

1. This is up to you, your choice.
I have been doing some digging (the companies do not want to talk about this.) into the backlamp life of LCD TVs.
Now they boast about the life of Plasma screens, 60,000
hours for the current generation. I had a hard time get an answer about LCD screens. The answer was about 4000 hours.
2. This can be a problem. For computer LCD monitors the gamers look for one with 16ms or less responce time.
LCD-TVs don't seem to want to list this spec.
3. No, haven't heard of them.
One I have used over the years are J&R.com //
B&Hphotovideo.com // Fullcompass.com They are all top rated companies. John
