Panasonic 250 versus Optura 60

May 2, 2005 1:36PM PDT

Hi folks,

I am bying this week my first camcorder and hesitate between the above 2.
I have read available reviews and a few threads on this site and others. In this price range, these 2 camcorders come out (may be with the Sony HC 90 which I do not consider because it does not feel handy to my hand)) as the top. The consensus seems to be: each is top/each has plus and a couple of minuses/each has strong points responding to some of my needs. In brief, it is an agonizing choice: there is no clear winner!

In this situation, the killer argument could be: the winner is the one who gives the best video quality.
In reviews and forums, I did not find much comparative information on this point and a clear and overwhelming consensus.
Has anybody a final and grounded answer?
Thank you!

Richer colors versus sharpness?
May 4, 2005 6:47AM PDT

After posting my precedent message, I saw this judgement on a site:

the Panasonic 250 shows richer colors, the Optura 60 sharper images.
That could well be a decision criterion.
Any other inputs on my 2 messages?
Thank you.

hmmm...i'm in the same pickle!

ready to buy one of the two...

just read somewhere else that the optura 60 is a disappointment compared to the optura 40 when it comes to low light filming. Apparently its worse!

So I started looking at the Panasonic as well...ho hummm...

If anyone has any views input will be appreciated.

optura 60 review
May 4, 2005 2:10PM PDT

hello,

i read the optura 60 review on camcorder info that said the 60 wasworst than the 40, so i posted a message there to see if someone could explain why that was.

the reply i received said that the 60 did not use the same settings as the 40 did in the review, which is why the review said the low light was bad in the 60.

i hope this helps.
