Panasionic Plasma info

by jcrobso / November 22, 2005 1:59 AM PST

Sunday I broke down and stoped by a BB to look at TVs.
I was avoiding the boys in blue shirts, but just looking at the TVs that some members have asked about.
I was caught off guard buy a man in a white shirt, It said Pannasonic on it, he is a Panny rep. I was about to say "I'm Just looking" when I realized that I knew him from somewhere. It turns out we both worked at IBM toghter, I haven't seen him in 9 years.
Panasoinc is working overtime to keep up with the demand.
They aren't selling pannels to anyone right now, just to keep up with thier demand. Good news, next month a new plant to make pannels will come online. They are getting out of the CRT business, so if you want a panny CRT-RP get it now.
I ask about 1080p, he basicaly said don't hold your breath! (Hmm,,my thougths exactly) most are just work hard to keep up with what they are making NOW! He agreed that the HD-DVD wars are just starting.
I asked about the backlamp life of LCDs, he answered that is a unknown.
But some realy good news about the NEW plamsa pannels,
forget about burn in! Even if it looks like it just watch a normal progran for a couple of hours and it will go away.
Now IF you realy do burn it. There is a service program that a factory tech can run to "fix" it.
So if the "burn problem" was holding you back from buy a plasma don't worry about it. John
