Page status on Toolbar

Oct 5, 2010 11:28AM PDT

I've been using AVG 9 free version since it came out and the page status on my toolbar worked until recently. For some unknown reason it no longer works and I'd like to get it functioning again. Any suggestions?

Hello craftyjan,

could you please provide us with answers to these questions?

- which internet browser are you using (and its version)
- is AVG Security Toolbar visible?
- is AVG Safe Search add on active and installed in browser's add ons?
- have you installed (reinstalled, upgraded) used internet browser in last days?

Thank you

I'm using both IE8 & Mozilla Firefox 3.6. The AVG Toolbar is visible on both, but the Page status has a question mark in front of it and is in gray. I don't know if the safe search is on and active. How do I check that? The only thing I can think of that I did with my browsers is delete the browsing history.

Hello craftyjan,

Is the situation the same in IE8 and Mozilla Firefox 3.6?

Mozilla Firefox:
- open menu Tools -> Add-ons -> tab "Extensions" (default) -> localize and click on "AVG Safe Search" - there should be available option "Disable" and AVG logo should be colorful

Internet Explorer:
-> open menu Tools -> Manage Add-ons -> localize line with name "AVG Safe Search", in column Status should be "Enabled"

Thank you

The AVG Toolbar is enabled in both IE8 and Mozilla Firefox and the Page Status still doesn't work. Do I need to unistall and reinstall or what else can I do?

Hello craftyjan,

I would like to ask you to check these browsers for "AVG Safe Search" add on and not "AVG toolbar".

Yes, you can check the situation after AVG 2011 repair installation as well.

Thank you

There is no "AVG Safe Search" as an add on. How do I get that?

Hello craftyjan,

please repair (upgrade) AVG installation with latest AVG from our website:

http://free.avg.com/ww-en/download.prd-afh

Before installation please make sure no other protection application is active and do not open your browsers in that time of installation.

Thank you
