page faults with scanjet 3300c software

by rwattenschaidt / December 7, 2003 4:42 AM PST

I have a hp scanjet 3300c that I have not been able to get the software to load for a couple weeks. I am running W98. I get the error message of an invalid page fault in module HP3300T.dll at 0177:o1del6d3. This happens in both the HP scanjet light and copy programs. I've reloaded the software several times with no changes. I downloaded a new copy of the driver from HP and still get the same error message. Anyone have any clue?

1. If this was my machine, I would first be sure that no PESTS had found their way onto the machine with the five scans (and removing such!) I note at http://reviews.cnet.com/5208-6132-0.html?forumID=32&threadID=1313&start=0

2. Since it's Windows 98, it's possible that the OS is damaged. I'd know if mine had suffered some ills, but you may not be sharing the past run-in with some virus or such.

3. NO DETAILS of themachine such if you recently added memory or such.

4. Such an error found the scanner had failed. You would need to test-install this on another machine to find out.

A FIX for page faults with scanjet 3300c software
by nedro / January 7, 2005 2:03 AM PST

I had exactly the same problem with running my ScanJet Copy and Scan Software just yesterday. Luckily it had been working fine just 2 days before so I tried to undo anything I had done since then with no success including re-installing the software, so I checked the internet for a solution... The one that worked came from the Gateway Support site (support.gateway.com/s/issues/587622000.shtml): Copy Stimon.exe to the Startup folder or the Run Key in the Registry... and this WORKED! As it turned out, I had just removed this thinking it did nothing but take up space (boy was I wrong... Live and Learn)
I hope this helps with Your problem...
