I would recommend that you wait about a month.
There have been a lot of new cameras released in February. So far there are no reviews on most of them.
Nikon has released a couple of new cameras that may work for you. But so far, there is no information about how much shutter lag they have.
The Nikon 5900 looks good on paper.
Wait until you find a review of that camera.
It is loaded with scene options.

The main thing I take pictures of is my active 12 month old. So I need something fast and easy to use. I am a point and shoot person.
I'm so overwhelmed by all the reviews and specs. I just want a good, fast camera. I had a Kodak DX7440, which was good, but sometimes the pictures looked washed out. The flash seemed too strong. I took that one back and got a Olympus C770. The Olympus took awesome pictures outside, but was no way too slow for indoors. My little 12 month old just won't stay still long enough for the auto focus, which gives me a blurry picture just about everytime using the auto setting. The Olympus was also too advanced for me. I really like that the Olympus has a great natural looking flash and the lens is able to capture ambient light well if you don't use the flash.
I am looking for at least a 4mpx because I do a lot of cropping. I need something fast and easy to use. I don't mind having the manual settings, but I really like the scene options.
What would be a good camera for me?
