Overheating Early 2007 Macbook Pro (2.33GHz) and Quick Fix

My 2007 Macbook Pro was idling at 75-85 degrees celsius and the fan was blowing out of control. After the reset it idles now around 65 which is not bad considering the heat it was producing earlier with minimal applications open. Hope it stays this way. Thank you for this tip!

RAM is cleared everytime you shut down

What you reset was your Parameter RAM, it holds data like the time, date and a bunch of other things.

The procedure you refer to is called "Zapping the PRAM"

Sometimes works and sometimes doesn't.
