You don't need anything fancy or expensive to pull in the signals. Nor does it have to say HD on the box. Plain ole "Rabbit Ears." will do if you live close enough to a bradcast station. In your case, I would get something amplified. You're probably looking at about $40.
A good place to start though is antennaweb.org. This is a good website that will tell you the best antennae to get and the best direction to point it.
