Output from one PC to 8 Monitors

May 2, 2008 1:20AM PDT

Hi,

I am going to start by saying that I am a complete AV newb, so pardon me if my terminology is incorrect.

The company I work for would like to create an interactive installation using 8 LCD panels. Basically, I would like to treat each TV as a PC monitor as they all have VGA inputs.

On a couple monitors we will display a full screen web browser and on others a media player.

My question is this: How can we control each monitor using one PC?

The idea is to display a screen saver type graphic across all monitors. So the graphic is split up between them all, not the same graphic on each screen. So, we have to output one image to all 8 monitors, as well as display individual content to each monitor when people interact with the display.

I found this device (http://www.nti1.ca/avmtx.html) which may be able to handle the input/output... but how would I control which output displays which content (browser, media player, dvd, etc)?

Thanks in advance.

For a trade show we cheated.

We used the cheapest laptops we could find, a network and whipped it up in a week. The cost was dirt cheap compared to octal VGA display cards.

Your "Audio/Video Matrix Switch" will not create the needed displays so that looks to be a dead end.

So in other words you used one input device for each output? One laptop per monitor.
