That's a trick Outlook Express has. The gif could display if the email was proper html, but many compare Outlook with Outlook Express and such an item is just one difference.

This is a small thing but is driving me crazy. Many of my friends send emails with .gif files in them. Outlook will not display these in the messages but shows them as attachments. I have tried everything I can think of in Options but no success. What do I need to do to enable this function? Thanks!
