Outlook won't display .gif files

Sep 29, 2004 7:27AM PDT

This is a small thing but is driving me crazy. Many of my friends send emails with .gif files in them. Outlook will not display these in the messages but shows them as attachments. I have tried everything I can think of in Options but no success. What do I need to do to enable this function? Thanks!

That's a trick Outlook Express has. The gif could display if the email was proper html, but many compare Outlook with Outlook Express and such an item is just one difference.

Okay - so I reinstalled OE and set it as default, imported all my files from Outlook, tested it out and ... it OE won't display the gif's either. I'm sorry to be so dense but is there some option in OE that I'm not toggling on? Or are you saying that it is something on the senders end?

Its possible the dll's are not registered. The usual is...

Start>Run and type REGSVR32 SHIMGVW.DLL

start=>run=>enter=>regsvr32 inetcomm.dll

IEFIX which you find with google.com may do this for you.
