OUTLOOK Virus?

by dogman89 / August 21, 2005 1:01 PM PDT

Hello,
My son's computer is running WIN XP. Each time he starts to type a message in OUTLOOK other characters start appearing besides what he types. Norton's anti virus found nothing. I put AVAST virus protection on and it found 3 viruses but the problem still persits. This only happens in OUTLOOK and not in any other program. Has anyone got an idea? Should I try to remove OUTLOOK and reinstall it?
THANKS!!

Please describe what your son started to type and the characters which started to appear. Do you have the other Microsoft Office components istalled - e.g. Word ? What is "any other program" ?

Thanks for the interest.

He was typing a simple email to a friend and after he types, additional random characters appear. It looks like if you just leaned on the keyboard. It doesn't happen in the email address window just where the text of the mail would be.
The other progams would be, MS WORD,Notepad,Print Shop, and Internet Explorer, and FIREFOX.

thanks again for any ideas!

Since this is OUTLOOK and not Outlook Express, run this to see if its some add-in (Tools, Addins).

Press Start, Run, enter the following.

OUTLOOK /SAFE

Note the space after OUTLOOK. When run, this runs Outlook in a safe mode without addins. What happens?

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
