Outlook send/receive error

Jan 31, 2010 11:48AM PST

About two months ago I downloaded Office 2010 Beta and it has worked well until a couple of days ago...Outlook would hang up and become unresponsive.

Internet searches indicated that creating a new profile in Outlook would be the solution...

This is close to being the fix, but I still have a few issues that have eluded me this weekend...

I can not send and receive on the account I connected to the old .pst data file. I have run the SCANPST on the file, but I still get the error:

Task 'name@company.com - Sending' reported error (0x8004010F) : 'Outlook data file cannot be accessed.'

AND

Task 'name@company.com - Receiving' reported error (0x8004010F) : 'Outlook data file cannot be accessed.'

I can see and manupulate all the old email messages in this old .pst file, but I can not send or receive mail on this account. The other accounts work fine.

Also,

With the old profile my three email accounts "shared" the Inbox, Deleted, etc. folders. Now each account has its own set of folders. I liked it the old way better....

I am truly a novice and could really use some advice to get me up and running.

There's no relationship between .pst files and mail accounts. You can setup your current configuration to use all your mail accounts.

Okay...I guess my question would be how do I configure this set up or what am I doing wrong?

Everything looks like it is in place, but...

I also have this problem
Mar 1, 2010 4:05AM PST

installed outlook 2010 beta on windows vista home premium. Three days ago started to have the problem with not being able to send emails. When I test the email account using the Account Settings - Change Account - Test Account Settings button, it works!! A test email is sent. But if I try to send from any of the email accounts (I have several set up), it doesn't work. I receive emails just fine.

Uninstalled / Reinstalled

Had to get up and running before I saw your reply. However, I do believe that multiple process could have been the problem. What I ended up doing was uninstalling Office 2010 Beta and Office 2007, then reinstalled Office 2007. Had minor issues with profiles being created in a new format that were then being used by the older version of Outlook, but still seems to work. Not sure if I will reinstall office 2010 because of the problems it caused with multiple processes running.
