Exchange Server is a program (and computer) found in company networks, where it stores emails and contacts and calendars. Outlook (in such companies) is configured to use that store of data. If any problems with the configuration arise, they are being solved by the company help desk and system manager.
For private use, you don't use Exchange server, but put all your data in a private database (by default called outlook.pst). I can't tell you exactly what settings to set and clear and change in Outlook 2000 and 2002, but is has to do with databases and email accounts and services (you need Internet mail, and you don't need Exchange server). So it's a configuring problem, more than an Outlook problem.
Maybe somebody else has exact instructions. Otherwise, I would suggest you study the help or google around.
Hope this helps.

I have the same problem with either Outlook 2000 or 2002.
I had to re-install Windows XP, Microsoft Office and my Compaq IPAQ. Now, I can't sync my IPAC with Outlook. When I start Outlook 2002, I get "Your Microsoft Exchange Server is unavailable. If I choose the Work Offline option, I get "Unable to start processing services. Your profile is not configured".At times I have also seen "unable to open your default e-mail browser. Your profile is no configued". I have looked at the Help and gone to ontrol Panel and found my profile and I get the same message about the exchange server being unavailable. If I try to look at the Porperties of either the Exchange Server or my Profile, I get the same message that the Exchange Server is unavailable. I might add that this was working good untill it became necessary to re-install Winows XP Home with SP2 and when Windows was reloaded last fall, I did NOT have this problem. Any suggestions?
I have tried contacting both Microsoft and Compaq and they say it's the other person's problem.
