Outlook folder as Access linked table -- Received Date prob

Jan 2, 2007 12:50AM PST

Using Outlook 2003 (with MS Exchange) and MS Access 2002. I have one mail folder set up as a linked table in Access, from which I create reports weekly.

This has run flawlessly for nearly a year, until this morning. Every message with a datestamp of 12/31/06 appears in Access as having a date of 9/16/1618. If I click in the Access field, the value changes to 10/24/7024. When I click out of the Access field, the value reverts back to 9/16/1618.

The reports I run look for the max value in the Received Date field so this is obviously a problem. When linking the table, you are not offered any field-specific options. Access clearly is not liking something about the date of 12/31 but I am not sure what the problem is. The datestamp cannot be edited within Outlook.

Thanks for the link, Bob

I decided to go with a workaround -- I recreated the e-mails using a test script (so they would all come to me only). That stamped them with today's date and I was able to replace the 12/31 e-mails with those and create my report.

That puts off dealing with this bug for another year at least.

Check the clock on the server that the database resides on. Sometimes a dying motherboard battery will reset the clock and throw off time calculations by reverting to a default time and date.

Doesn't seem to apply here. Did you notice the MSFT article?

Usage Import Changes Dates for 12-31-2000 When You Use Microsoft Access Database

It's doubtful a battery will fix that!
