Outlook file extensions

Sep 7, 2005 8:07AM PDT

Can someone tell me the name and file extensions of the following files in MS Outlook?

1. Outlook contacts list
2. Mailboxes
3. Outlook appointments

Are they all in the same file or in 3 individual files?

Thanks

It heavily depends on the version of Outlook. But I found searching for 'file locations' in the Help to always give a suitable answer.

And it heavily depends also on the configuration. If you're connected to an Exchange server, everything is there. If you're stand alone, most - but not all - is kept in one gigantic pst-file (by default, I think, called Outlook.pst) located in c:\windows in older OS'es and somewhere in your Documents and Settings in newer OS'es.

You don't tell why you ask the question, but you might find this a handy link: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;196492 (How to backup, restore or move Outlook data) for Outlook 2000. Details vary for other versions.

Hope this helps.

The article you sent me to should do the trick. I was having some trouble with my PC freezing to I reverted it to an earlier date. I have images of all of my drives so I wanted to use the latest Outlook information but didn't know where to find it.
