Outlook Express - switching between screen names problems

Jan 12, 2006 11:30PM PST

Almost every time I switch between screen names (I have 3 different email addresses) I loose the ability to see the information in the email. I called my internet service provider (Insightbb) and we worked out this fix. I'm sure he thought it was permanet. I have to close the program all together and go to the Start..run and type in regsvr32 INETcomm.dll and hit enter and then OK and reopen Outlook Express again and then it works fine till the next time I change screen names. Any suggestions as to what is happening.

From what I see, the patch cured some, not all.

Outlook express identies not screen names
Jan 15, 2006 8:47AM PST

I mean Outlook Express Identies ( I have 3 different email addresses...when I go to file...switch identies...this is when the preview window is empty and I have to shut down OE and run the regsvr32 INETcomm.dll...and then it works again.

1st, have you install the patch (read RP reply)?
Jan 15, 2006 2:01PM PST

you may also try to close your contact and preview windows.

and for temporary workaround, put all your email account in your main identity... (just add your email account).

As for the regsvr32 INETcomm.dll that fix your problem, I have no idea about that...

I suggest that you scan your computer for any virus, spyware, adware etc. locally and online scan.

Good Luck

If you are running Windows 2000 or XP, look up EWIDO and eject all it finds.

Not everyone knows about google or search engines so...

Please try that on the sites you use that have search capability. I don't hand out fish but will teach you to fish if need be.

http://google.com seems popular.

right...identity not screen name
Jan 15, 2006 8:51AM PST

Yes, you are right I meant to say identity not screen name. I have 3 different email addresses and when I switch between them is when I have the problem.

Here I thought it was still broken.

Wasn't this one of the enduring bugs in this email software?

Cissyleist1, what OS did you use
Jan 17, 2006 12:12AM PST

is it Windows XP?

If it is windows XP, did you install SP2 and all the critical update or patches?

By the way, have you try to put all your email address account in the Main Identity?

What is the result of scanning for viruses, spyware or adware?

.....

My computer is only 2 months old. It came with SP2. It is set to automatically update every day.

I have Ad-Aware and Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security that runs all of their services daily. Ad-Aware removes stuff everytime it runs and I usually don't see PC-cillin run but, I check to make sure it is updating virus protection etc and it is.

I'm not sure how to do this...have you try to put all your email address account in the Main Identity? so I haven't.

Thanks, Cissy
