Outlook Express spell checker fails under XP

Jul 24, 2004 6:45PM PDT

I have just upgraded from Windows 98 to Windows XP and now I can't spell check new messages in Outlook Express (Version 6). It says "An error occurred while the spelling was being checked." It's still OK in Word 97. Does anyone know what's causing this and how I can fix it? Thanks.
Clanfield.

This is a known issue with Office 97 and Windows XP.

No fix will ever be offered by Microsoft to fix it. What will upset some is that it may work for some, but not others. Again, no one has found out why this is so. But Office 97 is known to have issues in Windows XP and again, NO CURE will be offered by Microsoft.

Once you calm down, then you can get OESPELL or IESPELL for spelling and Open Office from http://www.openoffice.org and begin using the machine again.

Bob

PS> You can use Google to find IESPELL or OESPELL.
