Remember that Zone Alarm on dos based machines don't protect such a machine from outside attack unless the machine has a trojan installed. It will however eat into those 64 thousand byte resource pools you can read about in the Memory Article at http://www.aumha.org/articles.htm and since we don't have anyway to expand that space, one needs to test it with ZA uninstalled to see if that's the issue.
Also, the tool IEFIX you find with google.com may fix it.
In closing, if your mailboxes are on the large size of 1 GB or more, you may be feeling that issue too.

System Info: IE 6 SP6.1, Win 98SE, 700 meg, Outlook Express 6, Zone Alarm Pro 5.1 with e-mail protection turned off, Norton System Works 2003 with e-mail scanning turned on.
When I first turn my computer on and start up Outlook Express, it begins receiving new mail and freezes. There is no error message, it just freezes. Generally, I reboot once and it is OK. Sometimes I have to reboot twice. This happens almost every time. Advice please.
