outlook express, read receipt

I am looking for help with a read receipt for the emails i am sending, i went to tools options, and marked the boxes, the only time i get a read receipt is when i send a email to myself checking to see if it works, but only with me sending to myself. I dont underst and what i am doing wrong, any suggestions

It's an optional feature

It's not a required feature for any email client to implement, nor is it a requirement for the user to send one back.

I would also wager that it looks suspicious to spam filters, and often gets caught up in those. Short of resorting to methods spammers use, which are a bit underhanded, there's no reliable way to ensure a message got somewhere.

Also, if the recipient has selected "Never send a read receipt" you should not receive one.
