The date and time is in the email but is NOT REQUIRED to be there. As email standards allow this and even to edit/change/omit this, nothing here is broken or needs to be fixed.
Bob
I just noticed something very unusual. On some messages in my sent folder, if I forward them (or reply to them), the resultant message has today's date and time in the quoted portion rather than the original date and time.
In other words, if I want to remind someone of a message I had sent them some time ago by forwarding that message, sometimes the quoted part of the forwarded message contains the current date! It looks like I am just sending it now!
I say sometimes because for some messages this does not happen. It works correctly. The behavior is consistent from message to message. If a particular message inserts today's date, it does so every time and vice versa.
Do I have something set wrong?
