outlook express problem

I recieved a message in outlook express (from a safe source) and for some reason everytime I make it active my computer freezes up. I tried to delete it and could not. I also tried to block the sender and remove all emails from sender but it still froze up. I finally just left it alone, but now when I try to block a sender my computer freezes up. Any ideas? I am not computer illeterate, but am not savy either! Thanks,

Safe source?

Your post makes me wonder, but you should know better.

Are you running updated AV software?

Updated malware/spyware scanners?

Have you tried a System Restore to a date prior to receiving that message?

You may also want to try a repair of IE and OE:

Add/Remove Programs > highlight Microsoft Internet explorer > click Add/Remove > select Repair > Next > OK.

Reboot when finished and test.

The message was from paypal - a receipt. I use AVG Grisoft and spybot search and destroy. I did do the repair ie thing - it didn't help. Is there a way to delete an email without going to it in outlook express? Thanks for your help.

If the message is in the Inbox folder, the only solution will be renaming that folder.

Restarting OE will recreate the folder.

My question is: are you willing to do that?

ALL messages in Inbox will be lost.

Close OE, stop the AVG scanner.

Now go Start > Search.

Locate a file called inbox.dbx and rename to inbox.old.

Restart OE and you should now have a new, empty, Inbox folder.

See if that helps.
