Outlook Express: MSIMN.EXE Abnormal Program Termination

by wrytat / June 27, 2006 5:04 PM PDT

My computer is using Outlook Express 6.0. Recently, sometimes when we start the program, it will throw us an error message,

Runtime Error!
Program: C:\PROGRAM FILES\OUTLOOK EXPRESS\MSIMN.EXE

abnormal program termination
[OK]

We have to log off the computer and log in again in order to be able to read or e-mail. We also notice that since we installed TrendMicro Anti-Spam program, this has been happening quite often.

What should we do to resolve this?

Do you mean by uninstalling Trend Micro's Anti-Spam program? But that application is so good, and I don't understand why it just don't work on this PC. Should I try using Outlook instead (of Outlook Express) since we have Outlook. Is Outlook better than Express?

Exactly.

I've found Symantec's Office addin to fail in odd ways as well with no sign that Symantec will fix it. While it may be good stuff (any of these) what you find is the software is not bugfree.

We appear to be the testers and the companies wait for people to complain loudly and in numbers before they fix it.

-> I think you found the problem. Let me share what I use. POPFILE (google.com) While it's likely to not be as friendly as what you have, I find the price and how well it works to be good enough for me.

In closing, report it back to the maker so you join in the chorus.
