Outlook Express--mail disappeared

Jul 22, 2005 4:33AM PDT

Last week, within an hour of using it, all the contents of my Inbox vanished, taking everything from March 2005 on. In addition, all the subfolders I had created vanished completely, too. The contents of Sent Mail, Deleted Mail and the Zone Alarm-challenged mail remained.
Where the heck did all that stuff go? There's mail I really need to use. I know there's got to be a place where it's stored, but I can't find it. (When I looked into the OE folder, the contents stopped at March 15.) There's no new programs or updates for that time. I tried to use System Restore, but learned the hard way that the store techs apparently disabled it when they installed everything on this computer when I bought it (including the OE folder from the old computer).

I use OE6, Windows XP home, Zone Alarm Security Suite on an HP Pavillion a810n.

The view is fine

I wish it was that easy. I'm set at All and always have been.
New mail shows up just like it's supposed to--mail stops at 3-11 and starts again at 7-14.

This is wierd. The same thing happenrd to me last week. Poof. Right before my eyes all my inbox was gone. Everything else, like yours, stayed.
I'm on Win Me
I went to "C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Identities\{639E36E0-973F-4619-B114-1A22F4F9B3AC}\Microsoft\Outlook Express" but I do not know how to retrieve anything from there except txt files. In the above site I have a file "inbox.dbx" and it shows over 98 mgs on it.
I have tried dbxtract but all it retrieves is txt files. I have also tried to import that mail file to my inbox, and have tried uopy and paste. No luck. Is there any other way to access these files?
thanks,
