Outlook Express Identity switching

Dec 15, 2003 11:37AM PST

Windows XP + SP1a + Most critical updates, NAV2003, Spybot SD, Spywareblaster, Adaware.

I create two identity in OE - and 1 Main Identity.

I just notice today, that, when I exit/close OE (without logging off) .. Turn Off the PC for a while.. When I turn the PC back on.. and load OE... I will get to the Last Identity I used --- doesn't it supposed to be back to Main Identity, After the PC is Off?

I don't want to use System restore, because I didn't know when the problem have started.

Any idea?

Thank You

Open OE-6 and go to File > Identities > Manage Identities. Near the bottom of the resulting menu is where you select the identity that opens first when you start OE.

I must ask what is going on with that machine. I see posts by you in many boards about many problems.

There was another frequent poster that would re-install the OS montly it seems. The number of questions they brought up was amazing.

Can you share why we see you around so much? What's with that machine?

About OE Identities. Toss it and create users for users. As to what identity comes up. Such nuances are not assured by Microsoft. They treat this OE as a free program with no assurance of performance. Since its free, they are not going to fix things or document it heavily. You should learn the program and use it as best you can.

The reason I post in so many board and with so many problem is that I try helping my family and friends which have no knowledge about computer system .. (just a user) with their own PC and different OS and course, with many different problems... (currently there are about 40 PC/Laptop of my family and friends who need my help) some of them start using a network and wireless, which involved a router, cable modem, access point etc.

Luckily, most of them have a common usage, such as, Office, some graphic programs and one or two game(s), basically they have identical programs installed and about same setup/setting (I know because in a way I guide them during installation and setup)

If I can not solve their problem usually I ask them to reformat/reinstall -- Its only a little data that need to be back up --

I'm sorry if my post makes you (and maybe many others) wondering.

Anyway, Thank you for your concern and your information about my post.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, to you all...

It was just a wonder...

After seeing so many posts, you can imagine what one could imagine a PC with so many problems. I asked since maybe it was time to dig deeper on that machine to find out why it was creating so many questions.

If I took all questions and imagine that all this happened on one machine, it could be that the poor user of the machine would wonder...

"This is as good as it gets?"

I just wondering why this is happened to this particular machine and not on the other.

Yes I can use one identity on the machine, but I just wondering if someone have same problem and already solving it.

Thank You.
