Outlook express and SPAM

May 5, 2005 10:32PM PDT

Have Outlook Express as email. Receiving some nasty SPAM (erectile dysfunction etc.) that is showing up in my younger children's accounts. Not sure if this software is sophisticated enough to prevent that stuff and I don't want to have to take away their email. They enjoy corresponding with grandparents who are out of state but it's a little awkward getting these emails. Any suggestions out there?

2 suggestions.

1. Get a new email address. Don't share said address with anyone but that other person.

2. Install a spam blocker. While I think highly of POPFILE, in this case you may have to opt for McAfee's spamkiller since you don't want to have the kids training POPFILE.

Can you give me more details on "training"? I have an older daughter who is pretty tech-savy that might be trusted with something like that. What part of the popfile training prevents this from being useful with younger users?

Thanks

I don't duplicate web content but in one line: Training in POPFILE is to have it learn what you feel is good or bad email and what bucket to put it in.

Works for me. I'll take a look and see if it'll work in our house. If not, sounds like McAfee would be the way to go.

Thanks for the help.
