spam can be prevented. First of all Yahoo has spam protection. You can choose what is spam and what is yours. You can control it at the server. If you want to use Outlook Express with it there is an extra fee.
Hotmail you can also control spam at the server. Click on mail, then options and choose only people in my address book. Soon they will be charging you an extra fee for this service(they way they are moving)
What I would do is have an account for my online accounts, such as yahoo.com and an account for my personal messages like gmail.com. Only the people you know would recieve and send them there. If you are using it to send jokes, I would also have an email account for this, because there is a high persentage of people that forward jokes, instead of making their own, meaning that your email address has traveled along with the forwarded email, allowing someone else to get your email address to add to their spam list.
Hope this helps.
I really am having a hard time with a brand new email account. I started a second email account just for the mail coming from 2 different addresses. About 1 day later, some dirt bag starts sending me all kinds of emails trying to sell me computer software. I have no idea how this bottom feeder got this email address. I have filled out the unsubscribe section at the end of the page, only to have the exact same sale page come back to me the very next day, only with a different sender name. I can enter all the info I can get about this mouthbreather but it doesn't do any good if he keeps changing the sender name. And only once did it have a complete address as to where it was sent from. Now all that is listed is a persons name, and the name is as bogus as a four dollar bill.
I would like to have an email account that blocks ALL email except for the ones from the people I started this account for. The fact that this is not an option on O.E. is a bummer. Probably not an option on any email provider like Yahoo, and hotmail and any others available. I would give anything to be able to stop this walking talking turd from sending me any more stinking junk mail, but if all he has to do is use a different name in sending this garbage, then there is no way to stop him. I am bummed out and in need of any kind of advice from those of you who know a lot more about this subject then I do. And that probably takes in just about every one here.
My computer is a Dell Demension 2400- Intel Pentium 4, 2400MHz. 1024 MB memory, Windows XP PRO SP2. Norton System Works 2005, Ad-Aware SE Personal. Spybot Search & Destroy. A lot of other software, but nothing to do with my mail. If anybody knows how to do what I would like, I would be so grateful for any and all help you can give me.
