General discussion

Outlook Express 6.0

Jan 18, 2006 12:02AM PST

I ran a registry cleaner and did somethig wrong resulting in my losing the "special" folders I had created to hold emails. I still get inbox, sent, outbox and deleted items folders but not the ones I set up as New Folders.
Are they anywhere and can I recover the messages that were in these folders?

I don't know for sure, but you can look

in your email storage folder (tools, options, maintenance, store folder -- note the location of the storage folder)

Go to the folder and see if you 'new folder' is there.

If it is, copy them to another directory (its has .dbx extension, the file size is depend on what inside the folder)

After you copy the dbx files, try to create the new folder (with the same name) in your OE... see what happened.. (you might already your content back)

If not then go back to the storage folder (and see the file size of your 'new folder' name) .. it may be smaller than the one you copied previously.. If so, just copy the old file.

Just a thought...

The reason behind my thought is that

Thanks for you reply. I wasn't able to do that but I just did a system restore and all is fine again.
