Outlook Express

by KVE,Inc / January 31, 2009 4:18 AM PST

I have used OE as my e-mail client for 8 years now.
All of a sudden I can't delete certain e-mails either in the deleted or sent folders.
Is there a way to reinstall OE.
I have rebooted and reset my computer to two days ago and its still doing the same thing?

This can be caused by a corrupted Deleted Items folder. Find it in My Computer (search for *.dbx in your subfolder of Documents and Settings) and delete it. It will automatically be recreated.

I don't think it will be necessary to repeat the operation with the Sent Items folder. If it is, first move or copy every mail out of it to another folder.

If everything works again, make a backup copy of all your .dbx files, then do a File>Folder>Compact all folders.

Things should be fine again after this.

Thanks, that sounds logical. I'll give it a go. Appreciate the prompt response.

Go to control panel/add_remove and then click on Windows Compnents. Then UN check oe and restart. Then go back to add_remove , windows components and "check" the OE box....good luck
