OutLook Express

Mar 16, 2004 10:12AM PST

How do I check my email in Outlook Express from another computer out of town. I tried recently and was not able to do so. It was from a computer that uses AOL dialup as the connection. Thanks, Tom

Hi Tom,

if I am out of town, I log into the WEBMAIL from my ISP - you will find all your e-mails in there.

Tom,

If you don't happen to have an e-mail account that has "webmail", it's not really difficult to configure your own new e-mail account on the other computer. On your home computer, you'll need to write down the "POP3 server" name (something like "pop3.yourisp.net") and the "SMTP server" name (something like "smtp.yourisp.net") and you can simply configure Outlook Express at the remote location.

Find the relevant information and set up a new account on the remote computer by opening Outlook Express, click on "Tools", choose "Accounts", click on the "Mail" tab, then check the "Properties" of your current account. You should be able to find the POP3 and SMTP servers by clicking on the "Servers" tab. When you're ready to create a new account on a remote computer, follow the same procedures to gain access to the "Mail" tab. Click on "Add" button and fill in the data.

After Outlook Express is configured, you should be able to access the internet using any ISP, including AOL, then open Outlook Express, then click on the "Send/Receive" button to download your mail:
