You said; ''I installed an unexpired virus software tonight, a firewall and Adaware. She had none of these when I started looking at it tonight. I ran all of these, but it did not correct the problem.''
If your mother's computer had no firewall, anti-virus, or anti-spyware options, most likely her computer is infected. Did the unexpired anti-virus have updated definitions?
You say it did not correct the problem, but did the anti-virus find any viruses?
A friend of mine running Windows 98SE finally installed a firewall, anti-virus, anti-spyware and anti-adware on his computer recently after 6 years, and immediately he installed the anti-virus, (AVG), it opened up with multiple virus warnings, and when he could eventually run a scan in Safe Mode, AVG found 1015 different viruses.
I'm amazed that he was ever able to startup the computer.
My mom uses OE 6 with win 98se. All of a sudden her senders are being automatically blocked after she receives an email from them.
If I send her an email, she gets it, but then it blocks my address from any further emails. If she unblocks it, she will get one email from me and then it blocks my address again.
It happens even if there are no attachments or web links in the mail. They are not from the same domains.
She has the "add to address book" feature set for anyone she replys to. Could that be the problem.
I intalled an unexpired virus software tonight, a firewall and Adaware. She had none of these when I started looking at it tonight. I ran all of these, but it did not correct the problem.
Has anyone heard of this?
