It's name or such could be W32.Mimail.Q@mm or a varient since that message is too similar to it's effects.

I have a Dell 8200 with XP Pro w/SP, 512mem, 40gb hd, MSO 2003 w/SP1 and I have been faithful about getting updates for Windows and Office from the Microsoft site. Basically a good computer and normally does what I want.
I had been having some problems with my HP 8200 scanner. The quality of copies and some scans wasn?t good at all so I tried many ways of tweaking, uninstalling, retinstalling and even getting an extra CD from Hew Pack with the latest files to load for the scanner. Nothing improved the scanner.
Then, all of a sudden a couple of days ago I started having problems with Outlook and Internet Explorer.
When starting Outlook I would get a gray error message box that normally said:
????
OUTLOOK.EXE ? Bad image
(white X in red circle) The application of DLL C:\ProgramFile\Microsoft Office\Office 11\Outlib.dll is not a valid Windows image.
?????
I did everything I could think of including many instances of using the repair capability built within Office Help, to getting the original CD and reinstalling the product again and again.
Nothing helped. (I could make my dialup connection to the internet with no problem).
Now, at the same time this was going on, I had problems with IE in that as soon as I opened IE and tried to navigate to a site, a box popped up with an error message:
????
INTERNET EXPLORER
IE has experienced a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
Please tell Microsoft about the problem (I accepted YES to tell them most of the time).
Send Error Report Don?t Send
?????..
I also tried about 7-8 times to go to different points and Restore the computer thinking I could get back past the time I was screwing around with the scanner or anything else I might have done. I finally got tired of the Restore procedure as it was not helping.
Every once in a while I can get my Outlook to open up in an abbreviated version, and go fetch my email. I can?t get Outlook to have the same appearance or setup that I had before, for example, I can?t use preview panes.
I looked through all my CDs I got with the computer hoping to find one with IE on it so that I could reload it, but have found no help from within all the CDs or this built in Restore that?s supposed to be so good.
If I need to download a file somewhere, please let me know and I can do it at work and take it home on CD.
I don?t know which forum this really belongs in, so will start here; if I should move on, please let me know.
Any and all help will be appreciated.
Thanks.
