Resolved Question

Outlook 2010 does not load all IMAP folders on a PC

Mar 14, 2016 1:59PM PDT

I tried loading an email account to Outlook 2010 on a PC and not all the IMAP folders load. They appear on the email server when I directly access it through our email service provider.

However, when I tried loading the same email account on a different PC with the Outlook 2010, all IMAP folders load with no issue.

I tried un-installing and reinstalling Outlook/Office 2010 to the first PC but the same issue still occurs. Then I tried the following troubleshooting options I found on Microsoft's site with no positive results.

Any suggestions?

Changed outgoing server to "SSL"
Mar 15, 2016 8:20AM PDT

I ended up changing the outgoing server to "SSL" on the first PC and all the IMAP folders appeared. (The strange part is that I did not have to enable the SSL on any other computer's OL 2010.) I then restarted OL and now a certificate verification warning window appears in which the host listed on it does not match our actual email server -- the certificate displays a completely different host name.

I spoke with a computer expert about the certificate issue and if it is a security risk for emailing. He said it happens with his clients and he tells them to ignore it by clicking "OK" since it is not a security risk. Going forward, it is now just an annoying pop-up window every time we load Outlook but otherwise it seems to be working normal.

Thanks for you help R. Proffitt

Meant "Changed INCOMING server to 'SSL'"
Mar 16, 2016 7:16AM PDT

I changed the incoming server setting for "use the following type of encrypted connection" to "SSL" instead of "none"
