Outlook 2003 link to IE will not link

Sep 24, 2004 2:57AM PDT

Recently my Outlook 2003 will not link. If there is a link in the email to a URL when I click on it I get the following error message. "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator" I am logged on as the admin, Running Norton Systemworks with AntiVirus. I also have Firefox installed but not running.

Control-click from Word will also not work - and gives the same error message

Any help in getting the linking to work again would be must appreciated.

This has not affected linking when I am in IE

Let's try the easy fix first. Look up IEFIX from google.com and see if that makes it easy.

Found a solution: at Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 281679. This was referenced in IEFIX.
Many thanks

I try to run the exe file but keep getting the message that 'this does not support Internet Explorer 7'. Any advice?

Go to control panel

add/remove programs

show updates

click on internet Explorer 7

click on remove. It will prompt you about these programs were installed an may not function properly. click ok and follow th instructions.

When computer restarts you have Internet Explorer 6 back. You can keep this, works better than IE7 or try the IE fix on it, then reinstall IE7 using Windows updates.
