Outlook 2003

WHEN I HAD A MESSAGE IN THE "IN" BOX AND IT HAD AN URL OR WEB SITE, I WAS ABLE TO CLICK ON IT AND GO TO THE SITE WITHIN THE MAIL. IT NOW GIVES ME A POPUP BOX THAT SHOWS THE DESKTOP AND BOX AT THE BOTTOM WITH FILES .EXE. THERE IS NO WINDOWS EXPLORER ICON AS A CHOICE TO GO TO. SOMTHING IS OBVIOSLY MISSING OR NOT SET RIGHT. I HAVE TRIED USING THE REPAIR FROM THE "HELP" SECTION OF OUTLOOK & REINSTALLING OUTLOOK WITH NO LUCK. I AM USING WINDOWS XP PRO AND MICROSOFT OFFICE 2003. IT IS FULLY UPDATED WITH ALL AVAILABLE PATCHS FOR THE OPERATING SYSTEM AND OFFFICE. ANY IDEAS?

I get about to line 2 and give up.

The monolithic paragraph doesn't help either.

Try again?

Outlook 2003

I open my 2003 Oulook e-mail. The "inbox" comes up and I am reading an e-mail. In the message is a web site or other file that I was able to open before by clicking on it. When I click now, a window comes up that looks similar to my desktop & at the bottom is a box that has .exe in it. I am apparently supposed to pick a function that will execute the web site or whatever was supposed to open. There is no Internet Explorer icon on the pseudo desktop.I need to know why the change and how to fix it? I really dont't care why, just how to fix it? Thanks.

That's a common virus in the email issue.

You should get feedback from the Virus Forum about what to do, but in a short list:

1. Never view, preveiw or open mail that you are not expecting. Junk mail is junk and to be tossed immediately.

2. Beyond that, I never trust a link in the emails. Even abiding by rule 1, it can still be a trap.

3. And I don't run .EXE or a list of others from friends either.

So far I just see a junk email issue.
