Outlook 2002 SMTP failure

I am running Outlook 2002 and my SMTP and POP3 settings are correct. I can receive mail but not send. I have double checked everything and I still get failed when requesting SMTP server. People in the office have the same settings and they work.

Does anybody have any ideas on what could be wrong

I found out that "SMTP" as shown in the instructions has to be entered in lower-case letters, e.g. "smtp". Very confusing.
