Outlook 2002 refused by host error message when sending mail

Jun 20, 2005 3:24PM PDT

My Outlook 2002 recently started refusing to send outgoing messages. I cannot send/forward/reply but I can still receive messages. When I attempt to send a message I get one of several error messages. The most common one indicates a "protocol error" or it says that the host or address to which I am sending the mail doesn't exist when I know it does.

I have checked my account settings and they are all correct. I have also checked with my ISP and nothing on their end has changed to cause this type of problem. I have also tried deactivating my firewall but it did not help.

If anyone has any ideas I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

with the correct data. It might just work.

Also try to enter the same correct account data in Outlook Express to see what happens.

Post back your findings and give more details if needed.

Some antivirus plugins fail and cause this.
