I have Adelphia for my cable modem provider, and email provider. I use Outlook 2000 to access my email. Today I set up a new email address with Adelphia for my wife. I then login under her user in XP, launch Outlook, set up the Profile to go out to mail.adelphia.net and put in her email address, pswd, etc., But it won't work when I attempt to send/receive mail. Gives me two error messages, one says that it's unable to connect to the SMTP server mail.adelphia.net, and the other says it cannot connect to the POP3 server mail.adelphia.net. For both, gives the "Error Number: 0x800ccc0e."
I called Adelphia. They told me I can't use Outlook like this. (Apparently Outlook Express can, but not Outlook...) Instead, Adelphia told me to use Incredimail. (I did download this, but it looks kind of silly/kid like.)
What's doubly odd is that one message that I composed in Outlook under my wife's new address -- and sent to her new address -- came through.
I've made sure that Outlook is closed under my current User during this time, too.
Any thoughts/ideas?
