Outlook 2000 Error Messages

Mar 22, 2004 12:38PM PST

Windows ME
Outlook 2000

My problem is two-fold.
(1) When I open Outlook, I get this Personal Folders message:

"This information service has not been configured. Select an existing file to configure, or type the name of a new file to create."
What does this mean and how do I correct it?

(2) I was able to click OK when I got that Personal Folders message and was able to read & send mail up until last week. Now after I click OK, I get this message:

"Outlook has caused an error in PSTPRX32.DLL. Outlook will now close."

I'm not able to stay on Outlook long enough to do anything. Any help with these problems will be greatly appreciated. I am now 11 days behind in checking my
e-mail.
Thanks.

1. Configure another email-client (like Outlook Express, comes with IE) to check your incoming mail while Outlook doesn't work.

2. Get your Office CD and run setup to repair Outlook or uninstall and reinstall it. The uninstall might leave a corrupted pst-file (Outlook database), so it might be necessary to delete that by hand.

Uninstall will cause your data to be lost, but you'll be able to import them from your existing pst-file if you make a copy of it, I suppose.

Hope this helps.

Concerning your #1 suggestion, I was going to try to use Outlook Express to get my mail. However, when I went to open OE, I got this message:

"Outlook Express could not be started because MSOE.DLL could not be loaded."

Now I can't even find Outlook Express in my program list to try to fix that problem. I don't know what to do about this new issue. Any advice will be very much appreciated. I will try your other suggestions and hope I can finally get Outlook up and running. Thank you very much for your help.

Any mail client will do, if OE gives a problem and you want to read your mail.

- Go to www.mozilla.org and download Thunderbird, to name one.
- Maybe your ISP offers webmail to see your mail and respond to it? It's a useful service, also when traveling around.

Jgm, Outlook Express Is Causing the Outlook Problem
Mar 23, 2004 2:12AM PST

See my response to your question in the "Newbies" forum at the link below.

http://reviews.cnet.com/5208-6121-0.html?forumID=45&threadID=16731&messageID=185330

It refers to Microsoft Knowledgebase with an error message similar to your's:

OL2000: (IMO) Invalid Page Fault in module PSTPRX32.DLL
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=290782

You need to try reinstalling Outlook Express. Since you haven't given us the specific version of Outlook Express you are using, then you might try installing Internet Explorer 6 SP1 from the link below. The Internet Explorer download/installation includes Outlook Express. If you already have Internet Explorer 6 SP1, then you can selectively install Outlook Express ONLY by choosing the "Install Minimal" during the installation process. :

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/critical/ie6sp1/default.asp

Hope this helps.
