It's not an XP issue.
In Outlook just go to View and make sure you select Status Bar.
Then the number of emails and the downloading of new emails will be displayed on the status bar.
You can also go to:
Tools | Send/Receive | Send/Receive Settings | Show Progress.
I have just built a new computer (novice +1)and I installed Office 2000, and I notice that when I download mail, I don't have the same postings that I had in 98SE. I know this is not a big deal but it sure was convient to see if you were sending, or recieving mail and how many messages were downloading. With XP Pro that I have now there is a small window that has a title of "delivering mail" and there is no account of either 'sending,'recieving', or how many emails are being delivered to my inbox. Is there something about XP that I need to know about to make this more user friendly.
