Outdoor Wifi Question

Oct 5, 2016 4:47PM PDT

Hello. I have been having some issues and want to confirm my setup.

Dsl modem with a ip of 192.168.2.1

Engenius enh220ext with a ip of 192.168.2.133 subnet is 255.255.255.0 and gateway of 192.168.2.1

I have another engenius router picking up the wifi from the 220ext and broadcasting that out in another are but this I don't think i have a problem with.

The 220ext runs for a few hours or days and then fails to assign ip address... It does not even it show it being plugged in to the dsl modem.. Yet it puts out a wifi signal.

My thoughts are a faulty poe or 220ext unit itself.. Does this make sense?

Thanks

https://www.engeniustech.com/products/outdoor-access-points-client-bridges/outdoor-pro/enh220ext.html has a chat so you can check status of the product, firmware versions and so on.

The office here does not offer support of extenders since they inevitably develop issues. That is, we may offer ideas we will never support them. You learn why after a few months of networking in the wild.

I can't see where the router is here. That is, it could be in the modem as it's IP is a dead giveaway it's more than a router.

TL;DR. Check that all firmware is up to date and set the units to reboot daily.

loss of "handshake" between it and the DSL

Anything to set in it to "keep alive"? Connection by cable, or WAN port?

....using the same IP for both 220's. Assuming you have them set for DHCP? May need to use their MAC to differentiate between them on the central router.
