If you can focus on that, in the long run you may be happier.
What would be wrong with mounting two (wired) speakers up high pointing down and out toward the primary seating area on your deck? They wouldn't have to be as expensive as the Bose, which are overpriced and have been for years. Youtube has probably two thousand videos on how to mount/hide wires, including outdoor setups. The receiver would be located inside along a convenient wall.
For easier control of your AV receiver, just find a newer model with iOS app that can control the whole shebang. Onkyo/Denon/etc. do offer such methods to operate the receivers. So all that would be needed was a local wifi network (for AirPlay too).
Polk Audio (Atrium?) was one model I remember had decent sound for outdoors- nothing magical about Bose. About 1/4-1/3 the price.
I have too many ideas, but not sure how much can be accomplished or possible. My primary purpose is to have outdoor audio, but now with all of the bluetooth speaker options, I'm sure I'd take advantage using portable speakers inside too. Anyways, I have an uncovered deck. I was considering one of the yamaha receivers to put in a water proof cabinet on the deck, but now that there are wifi receivers, I will probably store it inside. One of my requirements is also to have a turntable, bluetooth enabled so I can send the signal to the wifi receiver. As for speakers, I have not found anything wireless , rechargeable, waterproof and mountable. I might need to have a situation where I need to send the same signal to wired speakers and bluetooth speakers simultaneously. I considered:
Yamaha musicast network receiver R-N602BL
Yamaha musicast wireless speaker
Audio technica blue tooth receiver AT-LP60NV-BT
Bose 251 environment speakers.
anyone have another suggestions? Id like to have speakers outdoor permanent waterproof and wireless.
