What is your understanding of their reasoning?

i asked around and it goes like this....

israelis from 'arabic' backgrounds (lebanon, syria, egypt, iraq, iran etc) have no "preference" when it comes to black cats, and if they do go either way, it's because of what they they saw/heard in the parents house...

israelis from a 'north african' background (morocco, algeria, tunisia etc) are almost ALL anti black cat, also from the parents house, but, they don't know why...
some said "a black cat is a witches cat" one said "a black cat was buried in Cleopatras tomb"...

horse shoes... over here they hang them open side down, that way bad luck/the evil eye cant get in...

Interesting -- over here they're thought lucky, and you hang tham open end up so the luck doesn't spill out. BTW, I've never understood why a rabbit's foot was supposed to be good luck -- it sure wasn't lucky for the rabbit!-- Dave K.

Because of the rabbit's ability to reproduce, the rabbit's foot also became a symbol of fertility. Rabbit's feet are also symbols of new life because of their prolificacy.

Trouble is, I hear tell from more than one grapevine, that he is nearly a shoe-in.

I heard on one or more right wing talking head radio programs that the AG is superstitious of calico cats.

... believe everything you hear then? Snopes calls it "undetermined" and they base that on the unnamed sources of one person who initially made the claim on hearsay. Pretty flimsy IMO.

Since you mentioned radio, I hope you don't mind my asking here rather than searching the thread out where we discussed Noory and Bell. I wonder if you don't detect as I do the subtle tone of voice indicating that neither host really believes much of what is on their program? That's just my take anyway.

Looks like I was searching Snopes about the same time you were.

As to Bell and Noory: I think they both have indicated, at least Art has, that some are more credible than others.

Personally, I think many of George's guests are pretty good and at least interesting to listen to.

BTW, think it was the Roger Fredinburg radio program that I first heard the AG story on calico cats. Roger is EXTREME right wing even if he is not ga ga over the AG. Roger is a STRAIGHT SHOOTER.
