replacing ipod battery

You can disassemble some ipods and replace the battery yourself (can be bought on e-bay for far less than Apple charge). But I have to warn you that it's tricky to open the ipod and I destroyed the control wheel connector on the one I tried to fix.

Luckily it was a dumpster find and had both a dud hard drive and dead battery.

There are tutorials on You Tube -- but they make it seems easier than I found it to be.

these are the reason I don't own Apple or Sony if I can help it. But I think Sony is getting little better now.

I would mind it if it were their technology but just repackaging and make you pay is something else.
