Did you try some file explorer app?

Sorry but I'm going to stop here. That is, I'll mention Android File Explorer but stop short of writing a tutorial as I see such on the web and YouTube.

Still a bit anxious that I screw up important files if I get it wrong. Can you direct me to one of the video tutorials you refer to. I havent found them, or not any I found helpful.
Thanks.

Are you wanting to TRANSFER photos from a usb stick?
Nov 12, 2013 8:43AM PST

I have a Galaxy tab2 10.1 and had same problem transferring documents. I could read them on the external storage but couldn't transfer them over to store on the tab. In the end I just copied them from the usb stick onto my laptop, then connected my tab to the laptop and then just used "drag and drop"(or "copy"...can't remember now) I had bought a OTG adaptor like you,for this purpose, but didn't work. Ok to view things, but not to transfer....or at least I havn't found a way, lol.

File browser

Wink PS: My tab came with "Polaris Office" app ready installed. If you have it, there is a file browser included in that. Open the app...there are 4 icons...click on "Browser", and it should open up a list of all your folders/files.

Transferring pictures from card via OTG to galaxy 10.1
Nov 14, 2013 5:38PM PST

Hi. I downloaded es explorer as advised earlier in video link sent by R Proffitt above , thanks go to him, and found that works.
Shows pictures as icons and gives an option to " move to". That's the kind of simplicity I need.
Thanks to everyone for their help.
