Great tips

Thanks for the link, barret. I must confess to never having learned the depths of OSX like I did with OS9... not that you could ever go very deep with a pre OSX operating system.

Good Info

There is good info there. I must admit the ssh hack on a different port might be a little over the top, but to each his own. I also must confess that my user is an admin user. Every once in awhile I run into apps that will only install if you're an admin user, and logging out to login to the admin account is a bit of a pain.

We don't let other folks use admin accounts on a daily basis, but since I'm the IT Director I cut myself some slack. Wink

Welcome one and all ...

I did know about the not having your everyday account be an admin account, as the last Apple training class I took, the instructor wrote those very words REALLY BIG on the whiteboard. Of course, I didn't listen to it .. Happy

After reading it, and after seeing 2 of those virus/worm/trojan horse thingies out, I figured I would heed my instructor's advice.

As for the SSH thing, I also agree that that might be a bit over the top, especially since I have a laptop and never have the need to remotely connect to it, since it's always with me.

Glad people liked it! Happy
