No, your problems are basic OS corruption. Not sure what specifically caused the corruption, but often times with situations like that, it's just easier to wipe the computer clean and start over. Trying to fix the problem ends up being more time and effort than simply starting over.
Hi. There is this problem I recently discovered on my XP (SP 3) computer. Many OS related features or programs just don't work. For example
Windows Media Player (tried 3 different versions). When I'm attempting to open it, it shows a dialog - ''An internal app error has occured''
Then there is Windows search function ( you know with that yellow dog). When I open it from ''Start''(or My Computer->Search) it just shows everything as usual but the blue section is completely empty, no text boxes, no suggestions, only that dog at the bottom (he looks suspicious though ;D)
Some things from Start-> Accessories-->System tools are unavailable (System Restore, System information) but defragmenter and Disk Cleanup work. Internet Explorer works too.
Even WIndows Help and Support won't open.
Some other programs - Windows Movie maker, Program compatibility wizard are unavailable too.
My computer is not a killer one but enough for a secondary PC- AMD Sempron 3000+,
2GB RAM but that shouldn't be a reason for problems like this, should it?
