Have a look at the following pictres to determine if your hard drive is ATA or SATA:
SATA power connector
SATA data cable
ATA power connector
ATA data cable
Next, measure the length of your hard drive and compare it with the reported dimensions the enclosure will house. Use this information to pick out a compatible hard drive enclosure and use it.
Now, depending on your operating system and security options you may have difficulties accessing the data on your hard drive from another computer. In that case you will want to click here for information concerning taking ownership of the files.
Hope this helps,
Recently my OS crashed and im trying to access the hardrive to transfer all my data to another hardrive or comp so i can do a system restore but doing that will delete all my stuff thats why i need to do the transfer. Whats the best way to go about doing this? Someone suggested getting a external hardcase for my hp pavilion notebooks hardrive and connecting it to another PC. I went to the store and bought one but unfortunantly my hdd was too long and the case uses the oldfasion pin connector where my hdd uses a differnt type of connecter, its a a row of slits then a gap then a smaller row of slits. Does anyone know what kind of case i need to get or the name of the type of connection my hdd uses. ANy help would be appreciated.
