OS 9 will not open on G4 iBook with Leopard 10.58

Feb 11, 2011 10:31AM PST

Trying to install Classic OS 9 on G4 with 10.58 Leopard. Installed the Classic from OS 9 disc successfully, and it installed all Classic items in a new System Folder as required. When I try to open Classic OS 9, I get this error: The Item "Classic" cannot be opened because it is in use by OS X. This same error occurs with any item in folder or any when any classic application disc is inserted in CD drive. How can I fix this?

System 9, in any shape or form, is not supported on OS X 10.5

Classic has not been supported since 10.5

Thanks, will try to install on G4 OS X Tiger. Last time I tried with OS X Tiger, kept ejecting the disc. On Leopard 10.58, accepted the disc, and installed OS 9, but would not open it as you noted.
