Question

oracle java version 7 update 9

Oct 21, 2012 1:02AM PDT

mac software update october 2012 suggested downloading oracle's java software which i did - version 7 update 9. my operating system is 10.7.5. now when i enter a chat room using java i cannot chat. while i may or not be able to type all words in the window (depends on chat room) when i go to enter the conversation nothing happens. there is no entry. for some reason the enter/return button does not work. i tried to uninstalled oracle java and reinstall mac's java but that proved unsuccessful. while the terminal window in utilities took the entry it deleted it as soon as i closed the window.

Doesn't Apple control which Java is released? And any other can result in odd things. I'd head to Apple and ask how to clear up what you busted.

from what i understand apple no longer wants to be involved with java because of security concerns. apple tells you if you want java you must go to oracle.com and download the software there . oracle tells me this is the correct version for my OS system so that is not the problem (so i don't think i busted anything). the problem appears to be some kind of glitch. i was asking if anyone found a way to get around it.

Ahh. I'm out of date.

Yes you are right. So the question becomes how to remove all of Java and for that we go back to Oracle.

If you have Java app issues, you don't solve those by changing Java versions (only those new to software and apps do that.) But by fixing the app.

With that out of the way, a link follows.
