hootabius,
You can purchase an extended warranty through Samsung. Though, we usually recommend working with the retailers you brought your television from (for convenience sake, of course!), in the event that's not feasable, we do have a service at 1-866-309-9907.
I don't have pricing, or details, but they will. I do know the warranty has to be purchased within a certain timeframe.
I understand that Square-Trade (Fair Trade? Something like that) worked in some cases with online purchases, but maybe someone else can speak better on that then I could.
We don't send out warranty expiration notices - in fact, the only one I've ever received personally was from the retailer I bought it at wanting more money from my then outdated 5-year-old camcorder. (I declined, and two months later... well, you guys know the rest). ![]()
I hope that helps, and welcome to the forum!

Hi all,
I am on the verge of buying an LN46A550. I first saw it at Sears and Best Buy, but then found it on Amazon.com for $200 less, with free delivery.
Anyway I was curious about the warranty. I was going to get the 4 year warranty from Best Buy, but with the $200 price difference, the $200 warranty, and the lack of sales tax from buying online (which I promise to file on my state taxes next year
) It's a difference of $500 versus buying from Amazon - nearly half the price of the TV. At that difference I'm not going to worry about the warranty, and I'm confident in Samsung's quality anyway. I was curious though if there is an option to extend the factory warranty directly through Samsung once the 12 month (or 15 if you register) warranty expires. I bought an HP laptop about 2 years ago and when their factory warranty expired, I received a notice in the mail asking if I wanted to but another year. Does Samsung do anything like this, so if after a year I decide to extend it I can? Amazon offered a warranty through a company called Service Net, but from what I've read about them online it seems like a total waste of money.
Thanks for any advise!
